Summary
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a naturally occurring 28-amino acid peptide originally isolated from thymic tissue. It is an immunomodulator that enhances T-cell differentiation and function. An approved drug (Zadaxin) is used for chronic hepatitis B/C and as an immunopotentiator in some countries.
TA1 comes from your thymus gland — the organ responsible for training your immune cells. It boosts T-cell activity, which is your immune system's targeted response force against infections and cancer. It's an approved drug in many countries (Zadaxin) used during hepatitis treatment and in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. People in the research community often use it during illness or for general immune support.
Mechanism of Action↓
Enhances T-lymphocyte development and activation. Upregulates MHC class I expression on tumor cells and dendritic cells. Promotes Th1 cytokine profile (IL-2, IFN-γ) over Th2. Activates toll-like receptors (TLR2, TLR9) and dendritic cell maturation.
Half-life: ~2 hours
Research Dosing Ranges↓
1–1.6 mg per dose
2× weekly subcutaneous injection
Approved dose (Zadaxin): 1.6 mg SC twice weekly. Research uses similar ranges.
Reconstitution Guidance↓
BAC water: 1 mL
Resulting concentration: 1.6 mg/mL (for 1.6 mg vial)
Add 1 mL sterile water. Standard clinical preparation.
Storage & Stability↓
Refrigerate. Reconstituted: use within 24 hours per clinical standards.
Known Side Effects / Contraindications↓
Excellent safety profile. Injection site reactions. Rare: allergic reactions.

Concentration: 5 mg ÷ 3 mL = 1.67 mg/mL (1667 µg/mL)
Dose needed: 1600 µg = 1.6000 mg
Volume per dose: 1.6000 mg ÷ 1.67 mg/mL = 0.9600 mL
On U-100 syringe: 960.0 µL = 96.0 units
Total doses in vial: 5 mg ÷ 1.6000 mg = 3.1 doses
