Summary

BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a protective protein found in gastric juice. It has demonstrated remarkable healing and cytoprotective effects across numerous animal model studies including tendon/ligament repair, muscle healing, gut protection, and angiogenesis promotion. No human clinical trials have been completed.

A peptide derived from a protein naturally found in stomach acid — and it appears to dramatically accelerate healing. In animal studies it speeds up repair of tendons, muscles, ligaments, and gut lining, mainly by triggering the growth of new blood vessels to injured areas. No formal human trials yet, but it's one of the most widely used research peptides in the community.

Mechanism of Action

Promotes angiogenesis via upregulation of VEGF and EGF receptors. Modulates NO (nitric oxide) systems and has anti-inflammatory effects. Appears to interact with the growth hormone receptor pathway. Activates tendon fibroblasts and promotes collagen synthesis. Also protective of gastric mucosa via upregulation of prostaglandin synthesis.

Half-life: Short (~1–4 hours in animal data); subcutaneous injection near injury site may optimize local effect

Research Dosing Ranges
⚠ Research reference only — not medical advice, not for human use.

1–10 µg/kg (typically 200–500 µg for 80 kg subject)

Once or twice daily subcutaneous injection

Animal studies: 1–10 µg/kg/day. Common research protocols apply 200–500 µg once or twice daily near the injury site. 4–6 week courses are typical.

Reconstitution Guidance

BAC water: 3 mL

Resulting concentration: 1.67 mg/mL (for 5 mg vial)

Typical dose: 12 units on U-100 syringe = 200 µg

Add 3 mL BAC water to 5 mg vial → 1.67 mg/mL. 200 µg dose = 120 µL = ~12 units U-100.

Storage & Stability

Lyophilized: room temp (<25°C) up to 3 months or refrigerated. Reconstituted: refrigerate, use within 14–28 days.

Known Side Effects / Contraindications
⚠ Research reference only — not medical advice, not for human use.

Animal studies show minimal toxicity. No human trial safety data. Potential rapid growth of pre-existing tumors in theory (pro-angiogenic). Nausea reported anecdotally.

Concentration: 5 mg ÷ 3 mL = 1.67 mg/mL (1667 µg/mL)

Dose needed: 250 µg = 0.2500 mg

Volume per dose: 0.2500 mg ÷ 1.67 mg/mL = 0.1500 mL

On U-100 syringe: 150.0 µL = 15.0 units

Total doses in vial: 5 mg ÷ 0.2500 mg = 20.0 doses
